If you know anything about Black films in the 90’s, you would be as excited as we are. The 90s was one of the golden ages for Black Cinema. So many films that we now deem as classics in our community were born in the nineties like The Wood, Higher Learning, Love Jones, and Belly.

Black Cinema Week will also feature parties, mixers, and games to accompany a few of the films. For those events, PFS is partnering with organizations such as the Be Reel Black Cinema Club, an organization that amplifies cinematographers across the diaspora through events and meet-ups. PFS is also partnering with NeXT Philadelphia, an affiliate of the Urban League of Philadelphia that helps young professionals network. Another partner is Greedy in the City,an immersive experience events company. The African American Museum in Philadelphia will also host a discussion of historical framing of 90’s filmmaking.
