It’s officially Election Day! The polls are open from 7am today until 8pm. While our elections are safe and secure, problems on election day can and do arise. No need to panic. There is help and you have rights as a voter. Here are some quick things to know!
If your polling place closes while you are still in line to vote, stay in line! You have the right to vote!
If you make a mistake on your ballot, you can ask for a new one.
If the machines are down at your polling place, you can still vote! Ask for a paper ballot.
If a poll worker tells you that you are not on their list:
Ask election officials to check the list again. Ask them to look at the supplemental poll book, this is a list of recent changes to their voting rolls). Ask if they need the spelling of your name. If your name isn’t on their voter list but you believe you’re at the right polling place, ask for a provisional ballot. Poll workers are required to give you one. You can still vote!
Only first time voters in their district need to show ID. While it's good to have, it’s not required if you’ve been voting at your polling place for some time.
