We're honored to share that the Philly Download has expanded into print. The Election Zine, which pays special attention to tomorrow's state Supreme Court retention race, is a labor of love from our network of tremendous contributors to you.
When we first began work on this zine, state courts were an undercovered topic in our news ecosystem, so we spent a lot of time thinking through how we could cover them effectively amid the political turmoil that pervades the country. The result is a zine that emphasizes civic education to clarify the complexities of our state judicial system, focus on issues impacting Black voters like time poverty and voter exhaustion, and the lineage of civic expression that underscores voter rights in Black Philadelphia, which is why we chose a portrait by Idalis Reign as our cover art.
